What eyes do not, Heart does it...
Ever wondered, how beautiful is this mother nature that brings colours to our life. How
enticingly pink is the cheek of a girl when she wakes up in the winter blush? How
much? Is it something to be seen and measured or a thought to be felt. Is it what you
always see through your eyes to make a memory or is it the warmth you feel to make it
a moment.
There is beauty in the sounds of nature, the babies cry, the howl of coyotes, the whisper
of the wind in the trees. Simple EXPERIENCES of pleasure, define beauty
Experience!! Yes I have experienced myself a day I can talk about in my life where I
witnessed that what makes us alive is the simple things present around which are
beautiful from inside and need to be felt.
A fresh breeze gushing through my window, chirping birds, buzzing vehicles and
amidst all these, the ringing bell alarming my office, I was pretty much geared to head
to LVPEI eagerly waiting to start CSR activity along with my benevolent friends. We
headed to the hospital in a race between the mocking traffic and trouble seeking car,
however we could finally meet not all, but 13 out of16, that day because of their last
minute schedule ditches.
We had a team of humble staff to escort whenever in need. Out of the 13 residents of the
Ghomaguda village, there was a special duo, a blessed pair of Mother and daughter
whose case I would like to pen-down today. There was a special bonding between them
unlike many, they felt like two souls, one vision .The Lady named Lakshmi has carried
all her way, her dreams and hopes in the form of a 2-year-old gal, Sathvika ,no less
than a Barbie, pretty in pink dress, all set to ride a roller coaster of adventures with
the seeking spirit to chase the stars. Lakshmi is a mother of two, an elder son and a
younger daughter, Sathvika, who inherited all the charm from her mother carried
down a legacy of having a vision defect in both the eyes right from the birth, unlike her
brother.
The scene left me teary-eyed but the Desire of the mother to make her daughter see the
world was no less than a burning fire. As Lakshmi narrates her story ,the loving couple
immediately rushed to the Ophthalmologist right when Sathvika was born As it always
has, the narration of the creator is more enthralling than the human emotion. With all
the might,after2 years of time travel, when we tried to back our effort with the medical
tests, the results were laughing wild at us. There was a rousing spirit ,beneath the
shallow eye of the mother questioning everyone out there to make her daughter count
the shining stars. Later we were taken to Rehabitation centre where Sathvika was
explained about all the beneficiaries she could make out for her future growth and
development.
One very notable portrait, that I haven’t seen in near time, is a standing wall of HOPE
with coloured hand prints of children who survived Cancer at the Paediatrics ward. I
have also got to talk to some of the mighty hearts there who taught me how life is
always a gift to be cherished.
As me and my friend winded up our droplet of service for the day, I took a moment to
retrospect my life for the things we take for granted, all the perfect imperfections we
think upon and blame ourselves, losing what we have. I have had a fair share of
inspiration to keep me moving till my next CSR. But one thing that kept running in my
mind is the fact that how trivial are the problems we face every day.
In my mind,
I live the days of sunshine bright and fine,
watch men pass through grey and fray,
listed things of great dismay,
Tried out the colours of pastels and creams.
I shall now look upon the sky
And learn how to fly.
Cos,now I can fly without wings,
Bounded without strings.
I shall now look at the world
In a way, I have never been told.
